MANAGEMENT OF MASTITIS IN POST PARTUM: LITERATURE REVIEW

Mastitis is inflammation of the breast that may be caused by a bacterial infection. Infection phenomenon often occurs in breastfeeding mothers, mastitis certainly requires immediate and appropriate treatment, not handled properly can affect breastfeeding. This study aims to review management mastitis. Delayed, inappropriate inadequate treatment lead recurrence, more extensive lesions, even tissue damage. most common second third weeks postpartum, with reports indicating 74% 95% cases occur within first 12 weeks. However, it at any stage lactation, including year. abscess all populations, whether mother or not. The reported incidence varies from few 33% women but usually under 10%. results show clinical observation stagnation milk breast, efficient ejection as forms largely prevent condition (Gunther, 1958). Therefore, contests are important part mastitis, should still given correct technique. Antibiotics symptomatic make woman feel better temporarily, if output corrected, get worse antibiotics given.
